About

Breakfast Wine Club

Breakfast Wine Club exists because of a fairly small grievance: interesting bottles always seem to wait until dinner.

We meet on Sunday mornings in Dubai. Where we can, we taste blind, because a label on the table tends to decide what people think long before they have actually tasted anything.

BWC is run by two wine professionals who have spent years working across wine education, hospitality, consulting and brand management. One is studying towards the Master of Wine, which is a long way of saying we do take the wine seriously. We just don't think you have to take yourself seriously while drinking it.

Meet the team

The themes go wherever the week takes them. Burgundy, Barolo, Champagne. Obscure indigenous grapes that nobody has heard of, which is rather the point. Iconic producers, one country, one region, or a completely blind line-up where all you get is a glass and your own palate.

The people who turn up are a mixed bunch. Some want to understand wine properly instead of guessing at it. Others work in the trade, or want to get sharper at blind tasting. A few have simply worked out that six wines before lunch sounds far more respectable when you call it a masterclass.

There's no dress code and no snobbery. Nobody expects you to detect wet limestone from three metres away, and if you genuinely can, we'd like to know how.

Good bottles, curious people, and usually something worth arguing about.

Welcome to Breakfast Wine Club. Sundays start here.
